Position Details (What is this?)

Context
The Department of Justice and Public Safety ensures the impartial administration of justice and the protection of the public interest through the dual offices of the Attorney General and the Minister of Justice and Public Safety. Responsibilities of the department include family justice services, fines administration, support enforcement, policing, the sheriff’s office, adult secure custody, adult probation services, secure youth justice services, victim services and administration of the courts. The department also both represents and provides legal services to the Crown including legal advice to departments, litigation, prosecution and legislative drafting services. The Department of Justice and Public Safety aims to improve public protection and access to justice in a manner that is sensitive to the diverse needs of its clients.
Duties
The Court Officer II plans, organizes, directs and supervises the overall procedural operation of the Court. This includes the supervision of support staff; assignment of duties and assessment of work performed; participation in training and cross training of employees; dealing with performance issues and providing ongoing coaching including formal performance coaching and mentoring to employees; recommending discipline when required; and ensuring that policy and procedures are implemented and followed by staff. The incumbent participates on various committees and projects at the request of management; writes reports on operational issues and provides monthly statistical and financial reports, and disburses payments into the Court. The incumbent is also responsible for recording, storing, and disposing of all exhibits pertaining to court cases. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Provincial Manager and in accordance with established rules and procedures.  Other duties will be performed as assigned.

  1. Completion of a Business Administration Certificate or Diploma (equivalencies will be considered)
