Position Details (What is this?)

Context
The Department of Transportation and Works is responsible for the administration, supervision, control, regulation, management and direction of all matters relating to transportation and public works. As such, the department oversees the construction and maintenance of the provincial highways; the provision of the provincial ferry services; management of the provincial government fleet of light vehicles and heavy equipment; operation and maintenance of the provincial government air ambulances and water bombers; and construction and management of provincial government buildings. The vision of the Department of Transportation and Works is of safe, reliable and sustainable transportation and public works infrastructure and services, demonstrating a commitment to service excellence in supporting the social and economic needs of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Duties
This position provides support and advisory services to the department, specifically in the set-up and management of the Department’s Electronic Content Management System (HP Records Manager). The HPRM Administrator leads implementation, coordination, training and management of all aspects of the system. S/he continuously improves HPRM to reflect departmental needs; incorporates records management best practices; manages user profiles and security; performs testing and modifications; tracks data and compiles reports using spreadsheets; provides user support; oversees the importing of data and ensures accuracy; develops and implements policy standards; and provides HPRM and associated process and policy training. The position is also responsible for the departmeantal website and perfomring updates to the site using Microsoft Expression Web, performing Legal Discovery and Judicial Inquiry searches for the department, and designing fillable forms with advanced features and custom actions using JavaScript via Acrobat and LiveCycle for the various lines of business in the department. Other responsibilities include: meeting with clients and documenting their needs; working with management to develop training curriculum, manuals and reference guides; drafting reports; representing the department at events and meetings; and developing departmental filing systems.

Merit Criteria (What is this?)

Screening Criteria
  1. Degree in BusinessAdministration, Information Technology and/or Records and Information Management. Equivalencies will be considered.
  2. Successful completion of HPRM/TRIM Administration Course.
  3. Experience as a HPRM/TRIM Administrator.
  4. Experience in the area of information technology and/or information management, especially with electronic content management systems.
  5. Experience with the MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  6. Experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro. (asset)
  7. Experience using MS Expression Web. (asset)
  8. Experience using JavaScript via Acrobat and LiveCycle to design fillable forms. (asset)
