Duties
This position contributes to providing the department with timely and high quality research information and analysis to support strategic planning, policy development, decision making and performance evaluation. Responsibilities include: conducting jurisdictional research; support for Federal, Provincial and Territorial (FPT) committees; external liaison; collecting, analyzing and reporting primary and secondary research; compiling and organizing data and information; preparing custom reports requiring specialized output and analysis using Excel and other computer programs; drafting briefing notes and presentations; and responding to information requests and other related duties.

Merit Criteria (What is this?)

Screening Criteria
  1. Degree in Business, Economics or Political Science (equivalencies will be considered)
  2. Experience in policy research and analysis
  3. Experience writing executive correspondence such as briefing notes, reports, cabinet papers (asset)
Assessment Criteria
  1. Knowledge of qualitative analysis
  2. Knowledge of energy industry/markets (asset)
  3. Experience writing executive correspondence such as briefing notes, reports, cabinet papers (asset)
  4. Ability to analyze data, identify trends and report findings
  5. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal)
