Position Details (What is this?)

Duties
Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Programmer Analyst provides technical support, systems analysis, design and programming on new and existing applications to ensure availability, reliability, integrity and security. Specifically, this position completes assigned requests; designs, develops and implements solutions; performs upgrades and system enhancements;  maintains and supports multiple production systems;  consults with users and key stakeholders concerning system requests; works closely with team members and other OCIO technical groups; writes and modifies computer programs; understands the client organizations business needs;  configures solutions to meet identified business requirements, processes, and functional requirements; investigates and corrects application production issues; ensures enhancements adhere to OCIO standards; ensures adequate system testing and user review; reviews and updates documentation (e.g. Operational Procedures Manuals, Network Diagrams, Disaster Recovery Plans).

Screening Criteria
  1. Experience developing or supporting IT applications using various programming technologies such as .Net, PHP, Power Builder, Java, Web (such as html, SSL, CSS, Javascript, PL/SQL)
  2. Experience developing or supporting IT applications as per the system development lifecyle
  3. Experience developing or supporting IT applications as per programming best practices/design patters/methodologies (i.e. security)
  4. Experience working with relational database technologies (ie. Oracle PL/SQL, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.)
  5. Completion of an undergraduate degree or diploma program in computer science or computer studies (equivalencies will be considered)
  6. Experience coaching or mentoring co-workers (asset)
Assessment Criteria
