Position Details (What is this?)

Duties
As part of a team offering safe marine transportation services, the incumbent will be responsible for the preparation and serving of meals for crew members; maintaining the galley and related items and equipment with associated housekeeping duties; maintaining food inventory including the required handling and storage of food items; reconciling of food purchase receipts on the online financial management system including Pcard purchasing, Pcard vouchers, ensuring second signatures received for food verification orders. Using the oracle system to complete Pcard receipt processing; standing watch and maintaining the cleanliness of the vessel and its equipment in the coastal waters of Newfoundland and Labrador; performing emergency and fire safety duties as necessary; other related duties as required. Use of a computer in the function of duties will be required.

Merit Criteria (What is this?)

Screening Criteria
1. Experience working within the Marine Industry in the capacity of Cook.
2. Cook certificate recognized by a province or training certificate indicating successful completion of a cooking course.
3. Required MEDs SCTW Basic Safety.
4. Valid Marine Medical Certificate.
5. Marine Basic First Aid Certificate.
6. Valid Food Safety and Handling Certificate.
7. Passenger Safety Management Certificate (asset).
8. WHMIS Certificate (asset).

1. Knowledge of working within the Marine Industry in the capacity of Cook.
2. Knowledge of food safety and handling practices.
3. Computer skills.

1. Certificate of Conduct and the Vulnerable Sector Query satisfactory to the Employer may be required.

1. Participation in any safety course training, as offered and required by the Department
