This position involves professional work in animal disease prevention, treatment and control within a designated region of the province.  The primary responsibility is to supply routine and emergency veterinary service to livestock producers. Other duties include disease surveillance and control programs, provision of veterinary services to horses, and veterinary assessment and professional witness in animal welfare investigations.   

Screening Criteria

  1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Individuals nearing completion of their program are encouraged to apply)
  2. Experience in veterinary medicine in farm animals and animal husbandry practices

Assessment Criteria

  1. Knowledge of veterinary medicine in farm animals and animal husbandry practices
  2. Knowledge of legislation pertaining to animal health and protection (asset)
  3. Diagnostic skills

  1. Must be willing to provide proof of license to practice veterinary medicine in Newfoundland and Labrador.

  1. Willing to accept rotational on call work.
  2. Willing to accept travel within the Province (occasional)
