Student Employment Advisory Services
The Strategic Staffing Division (SSD) of the Public Service Commission provides student employment advisory services to departments, educational institutions and students who are employed or who are seeking employment with the provincial Public Service. The SSD assists with outreach, attraction, and recruitment of post-secondary co-operative education students within the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Available student employment opportunities are posted within respective educational institutions’ co-op offices.
Goals
- Encourage meaningful student placements that satisfy both employer and student needs
- Increase awareness among post-secondary students of career options within Government and contribute to employee talent pools through outreach activities
- Develop and maintain contact with multiple stakeholders as a safe and supportive student advisory resource

- Liaise with educational institutions regarding potential student placements

- Recruitment Seminar/Focus Group – A session explaining the recruitment and hiring process for positions within the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and an exploration of the students overall co-operative experiences
