Position Details
Social Supports and Well-Being - Government of Newfoundland and Labrador
The Community Service Worker serves as a link between social work practice and Indigenous communities and assists in bridging the cultural gap to ensure the best interest of the health, safety and well-being of children, families and the community. This position assists social workers in providing vital cultural knowledge, assists with the development of plans to incorporate cultural values, assists with interdisciplinary services to ensure support plans are implemented, and in advocating for clients for other services. This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of client assessment and treatment progress and may assist the social worker in conducting home visits, office visits, and transportation of clients. The incumbent also provides language translation services where able, and performs other related duties as required.
Screening Criteria
1. Completion of a High School Diploma (equivalencies will be considered)
2. Experience providing support services in an Indigenous community
3. Ability to speak Inuttitut (asset)
4. Experience working with children and families (asset)
